Kashmir’s Highest Alpine Lake Trek
Day 1 : Early morning we drive to Sarbal , Sonmarg . ( 3 hours drive ) We start from Sarbal village towards Sarbal meadow. interestingly Sarbal , located on banks of river Sindh , is the last hamlet of Kashmir from the northeastern side inhabited by Dards of Gurez . We trek to Sarbal meadow and camp overnight (5 hours hike )
Day 2 : We hike to Durinar Lake 2 also known as Nilnag . Nilnag is deep blue coloured alpine a lake situated at the altitude of 4300 m , nestled in the higher reaches of Thajwas range . Enroute we will also visit Durinar Lake 1 . It will be a steep hike and test your knees . We camp overnight at Durinar Lake 1. ( 4 hour hike )
Day 3 : We hike to Durinar 3 , also known as Barafsar . Situated at the altitude of 4600 m , Barafsar is the highest alpine lake of Kashmir valley . It is one of the finest Vantage points in whole of Kashmir valley , which offers the views of Valley's highest peak Mt Kolohoi , Mt Harmukh , Mt Sirbal , Sindh valley , Lidder Valley , Pahalgam , Zojila , Drass , and surrounding towering peaks of Thajwas range viz Whalehead , Crystal peak , Innominate , etc. We hike back to Sarbal meadow . Camp overnight ( 7 hour hike )
Day 4 : We trek back to Sarbal village and drive back to Srinagar. ( 3 hours hike , 3 hour drive )
