The Khanda Kothi

Goghi Bagh, Srinagar, J & K


The Khaanda Kothi is an almost 50 years old House built in the Neo Kashmiri style in a quaint corner of the Civil Lines area of Srinagar. And it now functions as an Authentic Homestay where you Experience a slice of local life in Kashmir. The House features traditional Kashmiri arts like the Khamtamband Wooden Ceilings made of Himalayan Fir without nails. And a sloping Roof .

We have a huge Lawn in front which teams with Flowers come Spring and Summers and a giant Chinar in the neighbor's House stands as Guard. The Garden sees Avian visitors of many kinds and all you have to do is sit in the Balcony. The First Floor offers beautiful views of the Neighborhood and the Zabarwan Mountains in the background. On a clear day you can even see the Tallest Peak of the Zabarwan, Mt.Mahadev which stands at an imposing 4000 meters.

The whole House has recently been renovated and all the Washrooms have been refurbished. The House features Six Rooms all with attached Washrooms. We have a Modern Fully Equipped Kitchen and the inhouse Cook can prepare finger licking Kashmiri as well as Indian preparations. We are located around 20 minutes from the Airport. The famous Dal Lake is 15 minutes away. The SPS Museum is just 10.minutes away


Things to Do

The Khanda Kothi is located in a Central part of Srinagar not far from all the Tourist Destinations around the City of Srinagar. You can visit the Dal Lake and the famous Mughal Gardens around the Dal Lake. You can visit the various Mosques and Temples in the City like the Hazratbal Shrine, the Shankaracharya Temple, the Makhdoom Sahib Shrine and the Khanqah E Moula. In case you want we can arrange Heritage and Craft Tours around the City of Srinagar. Wildlife enthusiasts can visit the Dachigam National Park located on the outskirts of the City.
