Pin Bhabha Trek

Day 1 Delhi Jeep- 9-10 hours : Day at leisure Shimla- overnight in a hotel

Day 2 Shimla We leave Shimla for Sarahan (Jeep – 4 to 5 hours ) Sarahan is famous for the Bhimakali temple. On arrival we will visit the temple and head to bed early for an early start the next day. Sarahan – overnight in a hotel

Day 3 Sarahan Today is an early day. We drive to Kafnu (3 hours) from where we start our trek to Muling. The trek is beautiful today passing through forests (Trek – 5 to 6 hours – gradual to steep ascent) Muling – overnight camping

Day 4 Muling We leave Muling and head further up the valley to Phustirang. Today again is a beautiful lush green section and we cross many a lush green meadow (Trek – 5 to 6 hours – gradual to steep ascent) Phustirang – overnight camping

Day 5 Phustirang Today is the toughest and longest day on the trek and we must aim to start early. Today we will traverse glacial sections both before and after we cross the pass. The ascent up to the pass is well worth every breath as the transition in landscapes is breathtakingly spectacular. (Trek – 8 to 9 hours – steep ascent and descent today) Bhaldhar – overnight camping

Day 6 Baldhar Today is a relatively easy day with no steep uphills or downhills. We trek till the first village of Spiti – Mudh (Trek - 3 to 4 hours) Once we reach the road head we head by jeeps onto the village of Phukchong – an interesting village on the buffer of the Pin Valley National Park dedicated to meditating monks and nuns! Phukchong – overnight in a guesthouse

Day 7 Phukchong We head today to the erstwhile capital of Spiti, Dhankhar. Dhankhar houses an ancient Monastery perched precariously between unique wind eroded structures. Remnants of the Dhankhar Fort, which housed the royal family of Spiti, still remain. A visit to the Monastery, Fort and other subsidiary temples leaves one spell bound at the traditional architectural marvels. Dhankhar also has a lake – for those interested we can hike up to the lake which is about a 2 hour hike in total. After Dhankhar we head onto Tabo famous for its monastery known as the Ajanta of the Himalayas. We will spend the night at Tabo today. Tabo – overnight in a guesthouse

Day 8 Tabo Today we explore the Tabo monastery and head on further to Komic (Asia’s highest village) where we spend the night in homestays. Komic – overnight in homestays

Day 9 Komic Learn more about agriculture at the highest villages in Asia. Head onto Hikkim – Asia’s highest post office and send off a postcard to family back home if keen. Visit Langza village and head back to Kaza via Kee Monastery. -Option of playing with clay and learning the basics of traditional Spiti pottery*. Make your own Spiti Souvenir ! Day 10 Kaza Today we leave Kaza and head to Chandratal. (5 to 6 hours ) Chandratal – overnight camping
