When Shiv and Shakti decide to give you Darshan !

Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think I would be viewing the Nanda Devi, Kailash Parbat as well as the Gurla Mandhata.

Whenever I take a flight out of Srinagar I always look forward to the same sequence of Peaks and the favorites have always been the Kishtwar Himalayas with the Brahma at its center. That is wild jagged Peaks country.

But thanks to Indigo and the flight that they started directly to Lucknow from Srinagar. And need to thank God for making Lucknow my sasuralistan. This is the second time I took this flight and in the previous flight though I saw the Nanga Parbat, the Haramukh and some Karakoram giant but it was an overcast day so I missed most of Garhwal and Kumaon.

But this time I was lucky. Great views of the Garhwal and Kumaon regions and even the Tibetan Plateau. First came Kamet which was kinda expected, The Nanda Devi was expected, Kailash Parbat was not and not the least Gurla Mandhata. It should be noted that the Gurla Mandhata is located across the Mansrover Lake from Kailash Parbat. It is one of the few 7000+ m Peaks that is situated on the Tibetan Plateau and not at the edge of it. Also at that time I didnt realise that a tiny speck of a Peak that I saw in the distance was Mount Kailash. Only later I realised it.

And from the pic I also realised why it is held in such high religious esteem (besides obviously it being the mythical adobe of Lord Shiva). I imagine early Mountaineers getting atop the Kumaon/ Garhwal Himalayas and looking at this beautiful rounded Peak far off in the distance. Standing all alone and majestic. It really must be a view from one of these Peaks I imagine.

Ive marked the pic with some additional Peaks as well. Im currently preparing a Peak chart of all the Peaks that I clicked on this particular flight Route.
