Presenting the Father of Ice Mountain, the enigmatic Mustagh Ata. At 7509 m one of the highest peaks on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau. And one of the highest Peaks outside the Hindu Kush Karakoram Himalaya belt. The gentle demeanor of the shape of the Peak sometimes belies the fact that its only 1300 odd meters less than the Everest.

It is considered a part of the Pamirs as it is more closely connected with them though some consider it to be a part of the Kun Lun Shan. It stands majestically rising almost 4 kms from the base where the legendary Karakul Lake lies.

With is somewhat easy sloping sides it is one of the less difficult 7000 m Peaks that one can climb.

This Mountain is located almost on the Karakoram Highway near the Chinese city of Tashkurgan in Xinjiang.
